Anyone interested in the use of storytelling in re-enchanting the natural world, needs to know about Eric Maddern’s work. Maddern has a lyrical version of an Australian Aboriginal Story about the origin of fire called Rainbow Bird. It’s a creation tale about the transformation of Plain Bird Woman into a Rainbow Lorikeet while stealing fire for humans.
